Overview:
The Restorative Aide works under the supervision of a licensed nurse, implementing treatment plans recommended by a licensed physical therapist. The Restorative Aide is responsible for implementing basic restorative care programs

Responsibilities:
  • Clinical: Under supervision of a licensed nurse, provides recommended restorative resident care.

1. Provides safe restorative care of the resident
2. Performs documentation on flow sheets and other applicable forms of all restorative care activities.
3. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly resident environment by keeping work area clean and disposing of soiled, contaminated items.
4. Reports malfunctioning, broken or hazardous equipment or conditions to supervisor or safety officer.
5. Observes policies and procedures as demonstrated through performance of procedures and tasks.
6. Provides restorative programs:
a. Splint Program
b.Dining Program
c. High Steppers (ambulation) Program
  • LYFE Today (Living Your Life to its Fullest Everyday) Program
e. Reach (range of motion) Program
  • Observes resident’s condition and reports changes to supervisor
  • Provides one-on-one training to appropriate Certified Nursing Assistant when resident is discharged to Level 1 within the restorative program.
  • Submits requests for time off per department policy.
10. Complies with schedule and adheres to daily assignment.
11. Practices Infection Control and Standard Precaution techniques as consistent with policy.
12. Abides by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan.

  • Education:
    Identifies self-learning needs related to job description. Seeks out appropriate resources to meet learning needs.

  • Identifies self-learning needs
  • Participates in self-evaluation by identifying areas of strength and limitation.
  • Identifies and consults nurse and other resources as appropriate to learning needs.
  • Attends twelve (12) hours per year of nursing or rehabilitation-related workshops, seminars, or in-services each year.

  • Communications:
    Demonstrates positive and effective communication skills.

  • Wears name badge
  • Introduces self by name and addresses residents by preferred name.
  • Responds to resident’s/families’ requests for services in a courteous manner.
  • Maintains resident confidentiality and dignity during all interactions.
  • Attends staff meetings as requested.
  • Reads all written communication/minutes regarding facility activities.
  • Communicates pertinent information and requests through established organizational channels.
  • Interacts with others in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner.
  • Presents neat appearance in appropriate dress and demeanor as required by the position.

Qualifications:
Graduate of state approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant Program
Certified by Maryland Registry
