The community you’ll be caring for:

  • Winter Park Memorial Hospital has continuously served the residents of Winter Park and its surrounding communities for more than 50 years
  • Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 307-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness
  • Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the AdventHealth Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the AdventHealth Orthopaedic Institute

The role you’ll contribute:

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for provision/supervision of respiratory clinical care responsibilities to age specific groups. Respiratory Care processes include assessing, planning, implementing, delivering, and evaluating the treatment, care, and patient needs to achieve goals. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

  • Demonstrates, through behavior, AdventHealth Orlando’s service standards.
  • Assesses and makes appropriate decisions and interventions according to patient evaluation / needs. Sets patient goals, assisting in the development of a plan of care along with the multidisciplinary team. Evaluates / interpret diagnostic data including but not limited to lab results and monitoring data. Communicates effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Satisfactorily completes department orientation, airway management certification (campus specific), critical care training program, Infant/ Pediatric Emergency training program (campus specific) and is proficient at all applicable procedures defined below.
  • Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis. Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital.
  • Responds to Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association guidelines. Performs airway maintenance including proper use of manual resuscitators, suctioning, extubation, assists with bronchoscopy, assists with tracheostomy tube insertion, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, LMA insertion, manages patients with laryngectomy. Provides procedural respiratory support. May perform endotracheal intubation, under direct supervision, or after completion of documented competency.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
  • Associate’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program
  • Current, valid state of Florida license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
    • Exception: For Cost Center 7610: Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • For Cost Center 7633: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • For Cost Centers 7630, 7637, 1520, 0520, and 9390: Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • For Cost Center 0520, 1520, 4270, 5040, 7637, 9390: Current PALS and NRP certification (Preferred)
  • For Cost Center 4270, 5040, 7610: Current ACLS certification (Preferred)

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of an assigned group of patients. Adheres to AdventHealth Orlando Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
