Cooley is seeking a Resource Access Specialist to join the Legal, Competitive & Enterprise Intelligence team.
Position summary: Under the direction of the Senior Resources Access Manager, the Resource Access Specialist will work as a team member in firmwide collection development, including the licensing and management of electronic and print resources purchased by the Legal, Competitive & Enterprise Intelligence department. Responsible for identifying, evaluating and implementing the department’s ongoing migration from print to electronic resources.
Position responsibilities:
- Play a key role in the development of the firm’s strategic plan for migration from print to electronic resource access
- Work with internal Cooley resources to obtain legal review of vendor contracts
- Assist in maintenance of all department contracts
- Assist with the management of vendor relationships
- Assist in troubleshooting access to new and existing electronic resources, including managing IP authentication, individual user accounts, and other access methods
- Assist in the negotiation of print resource renewals including treatises, newsletters and newspapers
- Evaluate access to new and existing hard copy resources
- Act as liaison between select office outsourced print filing services
- Assist, as backup, in the activation of resource credentials for new hires and the deactivation of departures
- Coordinate with IS Communications to send announcements regarding new electronic resources, changes in existing electronic resources
- Liaise between IS and Legal, Competitive & Enterprise Intelligence on related electronic services issues and software upgrades
- Assist with support and maintenance of the integrated library system, EOS
- All other duties as assigned or required
Skills and experience:
Required:
- 3+ years experience in an electronic resource role working in a legal research environment
- College degree or creditable prior work experience in the field
- Familiarity with resource licensing terms
- Experience with an integrated library system such as EOS
- Experience with electronic resource management systems (e.g.,Research Monitor or OneLog)
- Knowledge of legal research tools
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Library or Information Science
- Experience in professional services environment
