HDC owns and/or manages over 3,000 apartments, providing housing that is safe and affordable to those with lower incomes, focusing on seniors, families, and individuals living with disabilities. Serving nearly 4,000 residents in 55 communities located in urban, suburban, and rural areas across Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, HDC builds hope and opportunity for all residents to reach their full potential by creating, preserving, and strengthening affordable housing communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage housing stability and resident engagement programs, ensuring that expected results are delivered on time and within budgets. Programs include but are not limited to: Hope & Opportunity Fund, Eviction Prevention Program, Resident Leadership Development Programs (RALI and CLI), and Voter Education Initiative, and Special Projects/Initiatives. Organizational-wide programming includes Racial Equity Diversity and Inclusion and Trauma Informed Care.
  • Responsible for managing the logistics of programs to meet the strategic goals and objectives of HDC and the Resident Services team. This includes promotion of resident engagement opportunities in collaboration with resident services and property management staff, execution of programs, keeping records and reporting.
  • Develop and manage program schedules and budgets, ensuring that expected results are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external partners.
  • Improve program execution over time based on resident feedback and results.
  • Prepare and collaborate with Communications Manager on communications materials for programs including HDC website, collateral, and social media.
  • In coordination with the Vice President of Resident Services, serve as the liaison between Community Relations and Resident Services team to cultivate and steward corporate and individual volunteer opportunities at HDC communities.
  • Contribute to other efforts of the Resident Services department as needed.

Education, experience, and special requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, such as human services, sociology, psychology, or related field; or equivalent knowledge gained through program planning, coordination, and execution experience
  • Five to seven years in roles encompassing program coordination, human services, non-profit management, etc. or in a role with transferrable skills, required.
  • Experience with nonprofit organizations and/or affordable housing preferred
  • Ability to handle complex logistics, be detail oriented, organized, and adaptable to unexpected change through problem solving
  • Basic understanding of programs budgets
  • Able to be proactive and self-motivated
  • Successful completion of drug screening and criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination (unless exemption has been granted for medical or religious reasons).
  • Valid driver’s license
