Position Summary:
The Center for Human Development is seeking applications for a Research Professional. This individual will work as part of the Center's research and evaluation team to complete project objectives. Requirements include the ability to organize, plan, and design, research/evaluation activities, analyze and synthesize results, and write project reports. The Center for Human Development (CHD) is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in Education, Research, and Service (UCEDDs) authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000. There are 67 UCEDDs, at least one in every state and territory, which form an Association of UCEDD's (AUCD.org). Since CHD is the only UCEDD in Alaska, we serve the entire state.
The UAA Center for Human Development has 4 major functions:
- Interdisciplinary education
- Community training and technical assistance
- Research
- Information dissemination
These activities are designed to increase the independence, productivity, and community integration and inclusion for individuals with
disabilities. CHD’s projects and activities are not limited to developmental disabilities; they focus on a wide range of disabilities, ages, and issues.
The mission of CHD is to improve the quality of lives for people who experience disabilities and their families, across the life span, through interdisciplinary training, technical assistance, exemplary service development, applied research and dissemination of information. The goals and activities of CHD are guided by the values of integration and inclusion, self-determination, individual and family empowerment, cultural sensitivity, diversity, community referencing, independence, and productivity.
This position will work as part of the Center's research and evaluation team to complete project objectives.
Experience in one or more of the following: special education, employment services, research/evaluation activities, or a setting working
with people with disabilities.
BA or BS and one year experience in a field relevant to research (e.g., social science, natural science, mathematics, statistics), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This is a full-time, 12-month, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
