The Chamber Relations Representative must be able to accurately assess both technical and policy issues, represent Salt River Project positions, assist the General Manager's Staff, and enhance government relations. Responsiveness and attention to detail are essential. The Chamber Relations Representative must also be able to effectively communicate at various public forums, with leaders and members of chambers of commerce and other business associations, and within the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact between the Salt River Project and chambers of commerce and business associations within Arizona.
  • Strategizes and coordinates Salt River Project employee engagement with chambers of commerce and business associations within Arizona.
  • Negotiates contracts for engagement opportunities with chambers of commerce and business associations.
  • Coordinates marketing and communication needs associated with chambers of commerce contracts internally as applicable.
  • Research internal candidates to serve on Chambers of Commerce boards and present proposals to management for consideration.
  • Assists the General Manager and the General Manager's Staff by advocating policy positions having governmental impact within chambers of commerce.
  • Informs Salt River Project decision makers about developing trends in government that will impact them.
  • Coordinates comments developed by Government Relations team on local, state, regulatory and federal policies.
  • Represents Salt River Project on governmental issues in the business community.
  • Develops and presents testimony in the public forum.
  • Assists in processing, formulating and developing public policy within Salt River Project.
  • Researches and analyzes technical reports for policy implications on public power and western water interests.
  • Responds to direct requests for special assistance from key political, business, community, and executive leaders at the various governmental levels.
  • Designs, assists and coordinates strategic responses to current issues with long-range impacts for the Salt River Project.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Five years professional experience in related field where face-to-face communication regarding highly sensitive issues is required on a regular basis at staff executive level in federal/state government or business trade group.

The Senior level requires eight years professional experience in related field, demonstration of full competency in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and will have periodic or frequent lead responsibilities plus successful completion of any additional education and training specified.

  • Understanding of federal, state and local regulatory and technical process.
  • Knowledge of Salt River Project water and power operations so as to synthesize technical reports and documents into overall policies.

Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
