Job Summary

The PenPay - Team Float will assist with all aspects of PenPay Payor Discovery PenPay Team.

Essential Functions/Duties
  • Examines the patient record and/or researches all avenues in order to gather information
  • Supports process improvements to assure quality and timely documentation
  • Follows billing process, makes necessary contacts to assure maximum reimbursement
  • Works closely with all billing and support service groups
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Maintains a working knowledge of industry standards
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to locate/identify insurance and validate coverage
  • Comfortable communicating on the telephone professionally and compassionately with patients and medical partners
  • Able to conduct telephone interview/screening for financial assistance

Required Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in the Payor Discovery (PenPay) Department
  • Minimum of one (1) year working in customer service and/or Call Center environment
  • Comfortable communicating with patients in critical care situations (after receiving training)

Preferred Experience
  • Minimum (6) months of experience in Healthcare/Revenue Cycle billing environment
  • Proficient with computers and ability to learn programs associated with the day-to-day operations of a busy billing office
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Possess compassion when dealing with patients
  • Able to communicate professionally in both written and verbal formats

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills
  • Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative work
  • Records maintenance skills

Working Conditions
  • Work in a team environment
  • Utilize various software programs
  • May be required to sit for long periods of time
