The Rehab aide will assist the rehab department in a non-clinical capacity.
Training: On the job training.
Job Tasks:
1. At the direction of the supervising therapist, perform services to patients being seen in department, on nursing units and in special clinics
a. Documenting measurements of and assisting with lymphedema patients
b. Assist with safe transfers and potentially heavy lifting of debilitated patients
c. Clean and restock rooms in preparation for next patients
d. Assist patients with self-directed activity to maintain function, strength, mobility, eating/feeding, adaptive equipment use, etc
e. Accompanying therapists on home safety assessments when it is determined by the therapist that two people are needed for the safety of the therapist or patient.
f. Assist therapist with ambulation as directed
g. Transporting people to and from rehab room for treatments and activities

2. Carrying out the activities program under the direction/coordination of an OT or OT assistance
a. Organize and coordinate volunteers for activities program
3. Photocopying and scanning forms for therapists
4. Completing paperwork for DME
5. Maintain cleanliness of equipment and orderliness of department, following guidelines from infection control
a. Completing monthly and daily control metrics of cleaning and monitoring dated materials
6. Work with patients and families to access the patient portal to achieve MU goals
7. Provide secretarial duties for department on request
a. Answering phone, checking and triaging messages, scheduling patients, photocopying, no-show and cancellation calls, scanning, office supply orders, inventory
8. Participation in continuing education opportunities as appropriate
9. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
10. Competencies may include:
a. Patient lift equipment, safe patient handling, basic vital sign training, use/storage/cleaning of equipment, infection control protocols for soiled linen and dressing disposal, on-line supply ordering, phone use, electronic scheduling system. Maintain certification of CPR and an understanding of AED
Minimum Education and Experience: Previous work in health care setting preferred.
