Overview:Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is recruiting an Registration/Scheduling/CNA. Actively participates in coordination of patient flow and services with a focus on patient centered care. Collects patient information related to patient visit or procedure. Assists with procedures and administers approved medication. Assists physician and team members with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Maintains a positive attitude while providing assistance in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinic. Assists in optimizing education for residents and students in Program rotation.
Responsibilities:

  • Assists with patient flow and room assignments.
  • Registers, schedules, and reschedules patient appointments in the EHR.
  • Manages all work-ques, in-baskets requests and portal requests.
  • Answers and directs all department phone calls.
  • Enters patient concerns, refills and routes to appropriate in baskets.
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance.
  • Obtains age appropriate vital signs upon admission.
  • Collects patient information pertinent to physician visit or procedure.
  • Assists physicians and team with treatment, tests, and orders.
  • Performs waived testing.
  • Documents patient care and actions per clinic standard.
  • Facilitates scheduling of diagnostic work-up, procedures and referrals.
  • Refers abnormal lab work to physician for appropriate follow up.
  • Calls in prescription refills.
  • Prepares, maintains, and cleans exam rooms.
  • Maintains equipment; orders supplies as needed.
  • Discusses day to day issues with team leader for resolution.
  • Directs incoming calls to appropriate resource.
  • Maintains CEUs required by certification/registration.
  • Availability to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school or GED.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in grammar and spelling skills preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute with minimal errors required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of EMR (EPIC), Medifax, Access, Webdenis system, Champs and internet as required by department is a plus.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:
CNA certificate preferred.
