Overview
The Referral Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of administrative tasks that assist in the day to day operations at the Rochester and Bethel Health Centers.

Duties and Responsibilities
· Answering phones and greeting patients, family and visitors to the department
· Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments with various providers and departments
· Coordinating and organizing providers’ schedules for office visits and other locations
· Registering patients, including verifying demographics and insurance information and collecting copayments, coinsurance and deductibles
· Ensuring appropriate referral, prior authorization and/or pre-certification for services; assists clinical support staff and providers in getting such documents ready for signature as appropriate
· Updating and maintaining accurate patient information and records, and delivering such information in a timely manner to authorized persons in a manner which protects patient confidentiality
· Tracking encounter forms, reviewing encounter forms for accuracy and completeness, entering applicable charges in a timely manner, and following up on questionable items
· Ensuring effective communication within the Provider Practices, with other Gifford departments and with external providers, insurance companies and related entities
· Striving for the highest level of satisfaction from patients, providers and co-workers
Requirements
- Experience: One year of secretary experience or other experience in customer service preferred. Medical Terminology preferred.
