Welcome to Redwood Schools. Redwood Schools is searching for a dedicated educator to assist in overseeing its nonprofit educational programming. The ideal candidate is well-organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects. Redwood Schools is a nonprofit organization founded in the belief that literacy is a fundamental right, and that a student’s learning differences should not impede their access to their dreams.
Redwood Schools has two school-based programs that provide evidence-based remediation to students with literacy-based learning differences, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. Redwood Schools has also partnered with Lawndale Christian Legal Center
(LCLC) and through a third program, provides reading remediation to students of the North
Lawndale community.
Our for-profit sister organization, Redwood Literacy, works along Redwood Schools and supports the same mission as well as core values and culture norms. You may find yourself in communication with our Redwood leadership team, which includes employees from both organizations working together with a common goal.
In partnership with the Executive Director, the Part Time Site Administrator will be responsible for creating systems and processes surrounding parent partnerships and student life, implementing Redwood-wide strategic initiatives, providing instructional coaching and observations, participating in all steps necessary to acquire ISACS accreditation and coordinating ongoing collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities:

School Operations & People Management:
● Support recruiting and hiring efforts.
● Observe employee performance, record observations, conduct evaluation conferences, and serve as a second appraiser for designated teacher performance review and calibration system.
● Plan and participate in all steps necessary to acquire ISACS accreditation.
● Build trust and drive for results while maintaining an empathetic and supportive environment.
Student Support:
● Empower students with learning differences, including dyslexia and other literacy-based struggles, to take advantage of their strengths while supporting their development
● Build rapport with each individual family to aid in robust student support.
● Assist with curricular alignment across grade levels.
● Apply restorative practices and assign logical consequences with students.
● Develop new student life programming initiatives.
● Provide leadership, support, and coaching to instructors as they differentiate instruction and implement best practices in this specialized setting for students with dyslexia.
Collaboration & Partnerships:
● Engage in consistent, compassionate communication with parents, students, staff, and other stakeholders.
● Engage in clear communication and strategic planning with the Redwood Board.
Qualifications:
Essential:
● Type 75 Administrators License
● LBS1 Special Education Certification
● Ability to implement and model clear, succinct, and professional communication in both written and oral manner.
● Familiarity with financial management, business strategy and planning, and fundraising.
● Adept at managing multiple projects with effective time management.
● Prioritizes the student and families needs
Desired:
● A minimum of 5 years experience as an educator
● Working knowledge of neurodiversity and social emotional learning differences
● Experience with Orton Gillingham or Wilson Reading System®
● Experience using strategies to support academic and social emotional success
● Experience developing and implementing individualized goals and behavior plans
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
