The Re-entry Specialist provides administrative support for all program initiatives. This position is responsible for working with the 180 RAP team, Financial Aid, College staff and Nebraska Department of Correctional Services administrators to ensure re-entry students have access to education, training and specialized funding. This position provides direct support to the Re-entry Program Manager and Re-entry Financial Aid Specialist and assists with Second Chance Pell efforts statewide.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS :
1. Provides administrative support for all program initiatives, specifically support Full Turn objectives.
2. Works with the Re-Entry Program Manager, Financial Aid, College staff, corrections and re-entry stakeholders to schedule and coordinate re-entry education, trainings and financial aid applications.
3. Provides direct support to the Re-entry Program Manager by assisting with daily office needs, maintaining contact lists, planning meetings and taking detailed minutes.
4. Assists in preparation for regularly scheduled reports and submitting expense reports.
5. Assists with ongoing tracking and reporting of participant and program outcomes.
6. Participates in various events including, but not limited to: departmental meetings, community and re-entry meetings and student appreciation and re-entry events.
7. Provides general support of day-to-day activities to advance Second Chance Pell initiatives inside NDCS facilities.
8. Assists with financial aid processes, documentation acquisition and other needs.
9. Updates and maintains Second Chance Pell internal records.
10. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
1. Knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices.
2. Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
5. Skilled in human relations and diplomacy.
6. Ability to communicate, effectively work and interact with a diverse population, various cultures and ethnicities.
7. Ability to maintain accurate records and pay close attention to detail.
8. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.

Associate’s degree with three (3) years of full-time work-related experience including high attention to detail, planning and/or program management and scheduling.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
Ability to enter Nebraska Department of Correctional Services facilities.
