What You Will Do

  • Performs a wide variety of diagnostic examinations in accordance with department, state, federal, and accreditation governing bodies, which results in the production of diagnostic radiographs.
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiographic equipment.
  • Assists Radiologist in performing routine and/or special procedures. Administers specific contrast and barium solutions as directed by the Radiologist, or other physician, in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assesses patient’s condition to determine appropriate procedure and technique to utilize in order to perform examination. Selects proper length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
  • Provides instruction to x-ray students.
  • Ability to perform portable radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, along with the ability to work in a wide variety of settings, including general, fluoroscopy, emergency department, critical care, neo-natal, and surgery.
  • Explains exam and procedures and acquires patient history, assuring that patient and/or family members understand scope of exam. Monitors safety and comfort of patient through the exam.
  • Assures quality patient care by promoting effective communication and teamwork through the organization.
  • Effectively uses available resources to provide a more complete and personally satisfying experience for all customers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the age group served.

What You Will Need

  • Minimum Education : Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) approved Radiologic Technology Program.

  • Credentials: Must be a Registered Technologist or be registry eligible. Registry eligible employees must become registered within six months from date of hire. Must maintain continuing education credits per biennium to retain registry in compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services. Certification or re-certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.
  • PreferredCredentials: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registry.
  • Minimum: Graduation from approved Radiologic Technologist Program.

  • Preferred:Two years prior experience as a Registered Radiographer.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and customer service skills. Ability to deal with people of different ages, backgrounds, and educational levels. Effective problem solving skills. Ability to work in a high volume department while remaining organized and composed.
  • Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Frequent reaching, standing, walking, sitting, bending, twisting, and kneeling.

  • Able to carry, pull, and push up to 35 lbs. unassisted and over 35 lbs. with assistance, in accordance with our safe lift policy.

  • Ability to perform detailed tasks and work with interruptions and changing priorities.

  • Has the ability to hear speech, distinguish sounds, speak loudly and softly, and utilize near/far vision, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, depth perception, and color distinction.

  • Needs to be able to distinguish hot and cold temperatures and smell odors.

  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs.

  • Ability to physically operate safe patient movement equipment in compliance with the Safe Patient Movement Policy.
