Job Summary and Qualifications

Oversight of the quality metrics and reporting required by blood and marrow accrediting bodies.

The Clinical Program Quality Manager is responsible for overall facilitation of (henceforth referred to as “Program”) quality and accreditation including but not limited to all procedures, administrative operations, and the Quality Management Program of the Program, including familiarity with standards of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC), and Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), and other applicable laws and regulations.

Scope of responsibility crosses the multiple facilities that comprise the Program.

For FACT accredited programs, the Clinical Program Quality Manager should have a reporting structure independent of cellular therapy product manufacturing.

The Clinical Program Quality Manager shall not have oversight of his/her own work if this person also performs other tasks in the Clinical Program.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • You will apply current knowledge of Commission on Cancer (CoC), FACT, and other external standards in support of the Program’s continuous compliance and readiness for accreditation and re-accreditation.
  • You will lead, facilitate and support the improvement of clinical and service quality in the Program.
  • You will facilitate the development, monitoring and reporting of quality improvement processes and quality controls for the Program as required by accrediting agencies and in concert with the goals of the Program.
  • You will conduct, review and report audits, verifications, validations and/or qualifications to verify compliance with elements of the Quality Management Program and operational policies and procedures. Collects and analyzes data, using quality improvement tools for interpreting statistical data, identifying trends, acting on findings, and formulating plans for continued evaluation/ improvement.
  • You will provide reports to Program and medical directors as well as leadership of the hospital regarding deviations from SOPs, pathways and care algorithms.
  • You will facilitate development of and compliance with the Quality Management Program.
  • You will collaborate with other departments to assure that the Program remains current in standards of other external organizations, for example, the American Association of Blood Banks.
  • You will maintain Program records in compliance with facility and third-party requirements.
  • You will report regularly on the Quality Management Program to the Clinical Program Director.
  • You will coordinate the Program’s quality and sub-committees.
  • You will support the Program’s Cancer Committee and sub-committees.
  • You will coordinate the Program’s standard operating procedure (SOP) committee.
  • You will review, modify, and approve all policies and procedures intended to monitor compliance with standards and/or the performance of the Clinical Program.
  • You will coordinate the development and periodic review of SOPs across the Program’s facilities.
  • You will report regularly, as required, on the functioning of the Program to all quality and applicable oversight committees. These include but are not limited to:
    • Cancer Committee
    • Critical Care Committee
    • Quality Management Committee
    • Multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee
    • Blood Usage Committee
  • You will appropriately utilize tools including the Model for Improvement (Plan, Do, Study, Act), 6 Sigma, Lean, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other improvement methodologies in daily responsibilities. Mentor others in their use.
  • You will assist with education activities for department and medical staff and assist the director in developing clinical and quality-related educational plans for the Program.
  • You will use available technology to enhance data collection, documentation, track outcomes and communicate with other care providers, e.g., Meditech, Metriq, iNavigate, StafaCT, FormsNet and CIBMTR Portal


What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Experience may be substituted for education-clinical healthcare and/or quality/performance improvement
  • 1+ year in a healthcare environment
  • FACT experience required
