The Costco Merchandise Solutions Quality Assurance team is seeking a Quality Engineer to augment a highly engaged and effective team responsible for overall quality of Merchandising Applications. This role will be responsible for design, coding, testing, and implementing solutions to automate the testing activities of this team. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, who work collaboratively with the scrum teams to assure the highest member service experience.

ROLE

Determines test dependencies including QA test environment, QA tools, training, build and deployment plans, intra-team dependencies, and communication processes.

Creates and executes manual and automated test scripts to validate the acceptance criteria defined within the epics and user stories implemented by team members.

Creates defects with detailed information pertaining to the failed test case/scenario with supporting documentation (screenshots, environment details, log files, etc.).

Develops testing protocols and standards to improve end-to-end testing outcomes and shares and adopts best practices with the center of excellence (CoE) and other Quality Engineers.

Creates test data to support the execution of functional and nonfunctional testing activities.

Develops and executes automated test scripts to accelerate team velocity through the reduction of manual testing efforts.

Shares test automation practices with engineers to promote “shift left” testing disciplines and practices (incorporate testing earlier in development) within a team.

Defines the testing strategy and approach to validating new or enhanced functionality implemented by teams.

Identifies candidates for test case automation through team collaboration and designs, codes and executes the test automation to accelerate team velocity through the reduction of manual testing efforts

Develops manual test cases for all functional and non-functional requirements.

Shares test automation practices with engineers to promote “shift left” testing disciplines and practices (incorporate testing earlier in development) within a team.

Identifies risks impacting the timely delivery of a given product and collaborates with team members to prepare mitigation strategies.

Executes smoke, functional, integration, and non-functional test scripts as part of the product/application delivery lifecycle.

Shares feedback with the team members pertaining to the quality of sprint deliverables during retrospectives.

Manages the remediation of defects raised throughout the development lifecycle and creates supporting quality reports that are shared with stakeholders.

Collaborates with matrix teams (e.g., Product Owners, System Analysts, DevOps Engineers, and Systems Architects) to define the automating testing approach.

Develops testing protocols and standards to improve end-to-end testing outcomes and shares and adopts best practices with the center of excellence (CoE) and other Quality Engineers.

Maintains the automated testing suite and accompanying framework for a given product.

Assists projects, functions, or teams in planning quality management for their area of responsibility.

Assists in the development of new or improved practices and organizational processes or standards.

Facilitates localized improvements to the quality system or services.

Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends, and refactors moderately complex programs/scripts.

REQUIRED

2+ years’ recent hands-on experience with designing, coding, and executing automated test solutions using Selenium, Java and TestNg. Comparable experience with C#, Ranorex or equivalent may be considered.

2+ years using API automation experience using postman or equivalent tools.

1+ years’ experience in writing complex SQL along with major RDBMS knowledge such as DB2, MS SQL, or Oracle.

Solid proficiency in web technologies, including: HTML, CSS, client scripting, DOM interrogation and manipulation.

Must have a strong understanding of object-oriented programming.

Excellent skills in analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting, debugging and code maintenance.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to work under pressure and to effectively multitask.

Willingness and ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion with minimal guidance.

Innovative, creative, and responsive team player with a solid work ethic and strong sense of urgency.

Recommended

Experience with Azure and Angular UI

Hands-on experience in software quality assurance testing, with a sound understanding of QA processes and methodologies.

Excellent lead/coaching skills to mentor members of the QA/QE team

Pay Ranges:

Level 1 - $85,000 - $107,500

Level 2 - $102,000 - $132,500

Level 3 - $120,000 - $155,000
