The
Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist will work
Full Time, Days and designs, implements and evaluates screening promotion and screening provision activities.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist provides strategies to work effectively with healthcare systems and other organizations to improve the implementation of activities.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist develops and implements a plan to regularly communicate with partners and providers about program services and operations. Such communication may be in writing, via phone, webinar and in-person meetings.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist serves as the point of contact with community members, providers, partners and other organizations in the service region, providing education about the need for screening.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist collaborates with patient navigators, community health workers or other partners to provide one-on-one education to increase knowledge or influence attitudes and beliefs regarding the need for cancer screening.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist coordinates partner and community participation in promotion and outreach activities promoting the need for screening.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist coordinates partner participation in promotion and outreach activities (e.g. Main Street's Go Blue, cancer awareness month activities, other community events) as provided and directed by NYSDOH and Bassett Community Outreach Manager.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist works with partners to enlist businesses and employers throughout the service region to promote cancer screening.
- The Public Education and Community Outreach Specialist recruits community programs working with cancer survivors to encourage survivors to be screened.
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.
Education/Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- High School Diploma required.
Experience:
- 1 year of work experience in a healthcare setting required.
- Experience working with diverse groups of individuals required.
- Experence working with famlies, or foster children would be a plus.
Licensure/Certificates:
- NYS Driver's License required.
Skills:
- Ability to assess client/patient information and take appropriate action is required.
- Ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment is required.
- Must have good interpersonal skills to handle confidential information and sensitive situations.
- Must possess basic computer skills with knowledge of MS Office applications.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional office/phone work.
- Position requires direct contact with clients and community organizations throughout the Cancer Service Program three county region.
- Ability to drive, as travel will be involved.
