Job description
The Psychiatrist is responsible for evaluating and providing care for children and youth with a full range of psychiatric disorders. The Psychiatrist continually manages patients’ care, providing psychosocial and physical assessments, clarifying diagnoses, reviewing treatment plans, providing psychotherapeutic support and prescription medication management, as well as emergency psychiatric consultation services.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of the Youth ACT Program Psychiatrist, under the supervision of the Medical Director and in collaboration with the Youth ACT Program Manager:
- Monitor patient progress and staff delivery of appropriate clinical services.
- Provide psychiatric assessment and treatment; clinical supervision; education and training of the team.
- Develop, maintain, and supervise psychiatric treatment planning (including psychiatric medication plans), including coordination of care with general medical and other specialist consultants.
- Participate in all trainings, team meetings, supervision, and other non-direct service requirements pertinent to the role, as they arise, in adherence to the Youth ACT model. (This would include: Collaborating with Nurse Practitioners, psychologists, social workers, or other professional team members to discuss treatment plans and progress; participating and providing psychiatric consultation in staff and treatment meetings; participating in agency committees or work groups as deemed appropriate; assisting in the education of patients, family members and staff about the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions; completing all required documentation in a manner which is timely and which demonstrates clear professional competence.)
- Know and adhere to all federal, state, and local statutes, regulatory agency standards, and Hillside policies, including but not limited to OMH, CPS DSS, JCAHO, SED, & OSHA regulations.
Requirements:
- M.D./D.O.
- Active, Unrestricted NYS Medical License
- Board Certified (or Board Certified Eligible) in General Psychiatry or Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- 1+ years practicing child/adolescent psychiatry (includes fellowship years)
