Here is what you will be doing:

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with property managers on a regular basis to ensure they are receiving the necessary information and guidance required to successfully operate their properties and meet reporting deadlines

  • Provide accounting expertise to property managers an ability to understand the operational point of view is essential

  • Enter invoices for the property management company as well as the property owners

  • Process security deposit refunds and turn prior tenants over for collections

  • Pay bills timely and inquire as to any discrepancies

  • Assist with year-end 1099 process

  • Enter budget information

  • Payroll and other expense bill back to the properties you are responsible for

  • Assist with monthly financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and other departments

  • Perform required accounting functions such as reconciling accounting schedules to the general ledger, tracking Balance Sheet account activity, making journal entries, reconciling bank and mortgage statements, preparing supporting work papers, etc.

  • Work alongside property managers to produce necessary reports and answer questions regarding property accounts including variances from budget; assist with the preparation of cash flow projections to determine funding requirements or cash distribution amounts

  • Understand and comply with accounting policies and procedures; recommend and implement process improvements as appropriate

  • Regularly interact with various levels of management and other departments as well as with auditors, lenders and other 3rd parties; prepare additional reports and analysis as required by various parties

  • Assist with on-boarding of new accountants; cross-check team members work; develop positive working relationships with employees throughout the company.

  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned by Accounting Manager, Controller and President.

  • Protect companys value by keeping information confidential

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations
