We are looking for a Registered Dietitian to join our team of devoted caregivers. Within this role, you will work to assist patients to gain the skills they require in order to manage their specific diseases. You will be responsible for educating patients and families regarding the nutritional and behavioral aspects of their care and conducting programs to work with community members. Caregivers should have prior experience in an ambulatory setting, diabetes self-management and weight loss education. Your primary duties will include:
- Developing and implementing new approaches to care for diabetic patients, and those requiring weight loss interventions.
- Planning and organizing educational classes.
- Motivating patients to improve their nutritional health via follow-up appointments.

Responsibilities:
- Performs nutritional assessment of both potential donors and recipients.
- Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and Selection Committee.
- Educates patients and their families regarding the nutritional and behavioral aspects of their medical conditions.
- Develops and/or implements new approaches to care for the diabetic patient.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
- Documents assessment and plan of care for the patient in the medical record.
- Reassesses and motivates patient to improve their nutritional health via follow-up appointments.
- Provides feedback to physicians in a timely fashion.
- Develops and implements a plan of care for complex patients or those at high risk for complications.
- Plans and coordinates educational classes.
- Organizes and participate in support groups.
- Coordinates various public speaking and media appearances with the marketing staff.
- Provides and coordinates education programs with cardiac, kidney and liver transplant patients rehab.
- Develops educational materials for use with patients.
- Keeps literature and material current.
- Evaluates publications available for patient use.
- Incorporates knowledge of current clinical trends, concepts and technology in making sound decisions/judgments and resolving patient's nutritional problems using scientific methods and intervention strategies.
- Collaborates with other specialties to ensure interdisciplinary management and continuity of care for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Initiates and facilitates patient care conferences and case reviews.
- Provides and coordinates discharge planning for transplant patients with other members of the Healthcare team.
- Produces required reports in a timely basis.
- Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Graduate of an approved four (4) year program, MS or MPH preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Media skills desirable.
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection control practices.
- Demonstrates flexibility, is organized and functions well in stressful situations.
Languages:
Certifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with Commission of Dietetic Registration.
- Florida Dietitian License-Department of Professional Regulations.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- For Oncology, Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition required within two years of employment.
- For Transplant, CNSC- Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, CSR- Specialist in Renal Nutrition required within two years of employment.

Work Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in providing patient counseling and education.
- Prefer experience working with transplant patients.
Physical Requirements:
- Essential Duties: This position involves educating and motivating patients to change their eating behaviors and lifestyle through nutrition and exercise in order to achieve improved health.
- Physical Duties: This position requires sitting or standing for long periods of time.
- Frequent use of phones, computers, faxes machines.
- Significant writing on paper and blackboard.
- Working Conditions: Indoors work setting in an air-conditioned environment.
- May require local travel to one primary setting plus some routine and occasional travel to other education sites.
- Has potential of on call responsibility.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Lab coat and gloves.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
