Job Description
Serve as technical leader for one or more interdisciplinary teams focused on development of new thermal-imaging products. The role requires broad knowledge of infrared imaging systems, outstanding communication & interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated facility for leading a team through all phases of development. The Systems Engineer serves as primary technical authority, responsible for defining and realizing state-of-the-art thermal-imaging products.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and manage systems requirements and ultimately verify that the design complies with them
- Perform and document market research and system-level trades aimed at optimizing system architecture and/or defining innovative solutions to complex technical challenges
- Manage technical risks, integrate and test product designs, and troubleshoot / solve unexpected problems
- Coordinate with project management, design engineers, production personnel, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure achievement of technical milestones
- Collaborate with other systems engineers in peer-reviews, defining / implementing best practices, and coaching / training activities
Job Qualifications:
- BS or higher in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other related technical field.
- Strong initiative and drive. As technical leaders of complex development projects, a Systems Engineer must prioritize, multi-task, and lead by example. A growth mindset is essential to stay abreast of technology trends, to take advantage of lessons learned, and to acquire new approaches.
- Stellar oral and written communication. The Systems Engineer generates much of a design’s documentation and has oversight responsibility for all of it. He/she is also the focal point for technical coordination.
- Demonstrated authority as a problem solver with a track record of innovative solutions.
- Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen or U.S. person.
- Previous Systems Engineering experience is highly advantageous. Prior participation in product development is also very valuable to this role.
- Knowledge of thermal imagers is not a pre-requisite but is highly desirable for the role. Familiarity with optics, sensors, electronics, mechanical design, software development, and/or advanced signal processing will provide a head start to the knowledge ultimately needed to lead development of our future products.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel (customer / supplier visits, tradeshows, company symposia) is required.
- Systems Engineers must be onsite as required to lead project teams.
- The role has no direct reports. However, successful Systems Engineers excel at leading development teams and providing technical oversight.
- U.S. Person: US Citizen or US Permanent Resident status required
Salary Range:
