Drum Teacher's Job Description[Get Drum Lessons in Esquimalt BC]As a drum instructor, it is my job to teach groups and individuals to read music and play one or all percussion instruments. Also, it is my job to plan a program of studies according to the individual needs of the student and to evaluate these programs and the skill of students. Then, it is up to me to demonstrate and explain the integration of these skills with other musicians and to encourage and initiate recreation/learning experience ie. creating small rock or jazz bands. Did I mention that all this has to be FUN
The instructor will teach:
READING MUSIC
- memorize basic theory of music, i.e. table of notes and respective time values
- exercise reading skills based on specific texts
- use of metronome
- refine skills in timing, i.e. the ability to sustain an exact tempo for a given period
- volume control through self-discipline imposed by:

HAND AND FOOT TECHNIQUE
- stick holding technique
- arm passage technique
- proper foot pedal technique
- inter-dependence and inter-related use of four limbs through exercises or remedial exercises
- all percussion instruments need care
