Job Summary

The Allied Health Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a full time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Instructor.

Job Duties:

This position will be responsible for teaching and clinical coordination. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist Program Coordinator in the development and revision of PTA program curriculum
  • Create classroom lectures/lessons, laboratory exercises, and assessments
  • Teach and instruct students in-person and online via a hybrid instructional model in the PTA program
  • Assess student progress in lab via skills demonstration
  • Assist Program Coordinator in maintaining electronic documents necessary for CAPTE program accreditation
  • Serve as an advisor for current and potential PTA program students
  • Stay current with advances in physical therapy and instructional practices via professional development and application in program instruction
  • Communication and collaboration with program coordinator, other instructors, and Dean of Allied Health to maintain program, department, and college success
  • Participate in in-person and online department and college-wide meetings, committees, and initiatives
  • Schedule students’ clinical rotations and assess student performance in clinical setting via clinical site visits
  • Request and maintain up to date records for clinical contracts from various corporations and disciplines within physical therapy
  • Provide clinical preceptors up to date program policies and procedures for the purposes of maintaining clinical partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must hold a current and unrestricted license as a Physical Therapist in the state of Kentucky. A minimum of three years of full time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical experience in physical therapy and two years of clinical practice that includes experience as a CCCE or CI in physical therapy, or a minimum of two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program is required.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Candidates should also have experience and sensitivity working with students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
