Weekend shifts required 2 weeks per month with potential for additional time during week

JOB SUMMARY: Provides high quality, comprehensive therapeutic direct and indirect care for the patient, which is supportive of the care given by the Physical/Occupational Therapy Department.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent. One-year experience with patients preferred. Two years college with classes in anatomy, exercise physiology or health and sports science preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: CPR Certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assists with patient care treatment under the supervision of a licensed physical or occupational therapist to meet the goals and needs of the patient. 2. Provides appropriate patient care in accordance with age/developmental guidelines. 3. Communicates in a professional manner with patients, physicians, and staff. 4. Performs various administrative, inventory, and organizational duties to meet the needs of the department. 5. Promotes professional growth and provides community education and/or committee representation. 6. Maintains safe and clean treatment areas.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to communicate professionally with therapist and other health professionals Ability to communicate with patients of all age groups Experience with computer processing Demonstrates courteous and respectful communication skills Demonstrates flexibility with an ever-changing schedule

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clean, well-lit comfortable climate, however, occasional conditions with high moisture content Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances Subject to many interruptions and occasionally handles emergency or crises situations Possible exposure to infectious or contagious diseases and unpleasant patient elements Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and airborne pathogens Subject to electro-mechanical hazards Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning Moderate noise environment Required personal protective equipment
