The Payload and Ground Systems Division within the Space Systems Sector seeks a dynamic Production & Digital Transformation Operations Manager 3 to lead implementation of critical production & DT strategies throughout the division. The candidate will provide direct support to division staff, business units, operating units, program managers and engineering managers to drive high performing program and production execution.

The position reports directly to the Division Director of Operations and Production and is in Baltimore, MD. Other locations include Space Park, CA, Aurora, CO, or Azusa, CA.

In this role, the candidate understands the Division production objectives, ensures activities & initiatives are aligned with these objectives, interpreting and developing organizational strategies, policies and practices as needed to meet the division’s financial, non-financial and growth goals.

The selected candidate will:

  • Manage manufacturing digital transformation initiatives for the division. Coordinate with Business Unit production teams as well as Sector DTO to develop the Division DT Roadmap, submit Capital & DTO funding requests, as well as standardize solutions across the division and accelerate technologies to division manufacturing sites.

  • Collaborate with Business Unit Production teams and Program Managers to enhance operational efficiency between the programs and production teams. Create and manage a Production Dashboard for each BU.

  • Collaborate with multiple functional organizations (engineering, security, mission assurance, supply chain management, business development, strategy, etc.) to define production strategies that enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Identify division focus areas for improvement/streamlining, development and execution of production initiatives, monitoring of operational goals and sector-specific objectives, and elimination of non-value-added activities at all levels in the production organization.

  • Facilitate Division strategic Make/Buy working groups and coordinate with Space Sector leadership.

  • Manage division manufacturing PrOP documentation and ensure Business Units PrOP documents align with Sector and Division documents.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current Secret Clearance or higher is required to start.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance afterwards is required.

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years progressive experience in an engineering or operations environment or 8 years with a Master’s degree.

  • Management experience in programs, engineering, operations or related technical fields

  • Understanding of technical, cost, and schedule impacts on a program

  • Understanding specific challenges related to production and assembly, integration, and test programs

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, highly collaborative, team oriented, have strong people leadership skills, and be able to effectively multi-task competing priorities and schedules across the Division.

  • Familiarity with SAP business transactions and MRP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current TS/SCI clearance is highly preferred.

  • Strong organization skills and the ability to quickly respond to a variety of demands.

  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, diverse environment and can adapt to change

  • Strong NG understanding and proven experience effectively working within and through NG (and/or a similar) corporate culture

  • Demonstrated ability to understand detailed program financial performance (CAM experience is a plus); strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to make recommendations and provide guidance to effectively bring projects to completion

  • Proven track record of driving initiatives to closure while meeting objectives

  • Dynamic, self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to function independently, meet deadlines and achieve commitments

  • Experience in organizational effectiveness and operations implementing best practices

  • Open to direction and collaborative work style commitment to get the job completed

  • Delegates responsibilities effectively

  • Lean Six Sigma Black or Green Belt

This position reports to Linthicum, MD, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 3 locations listed above.



Salary Range: $168,000 USD - $264,100 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
