Reedsburg Area Medical Center is looking for a per diem Patient Sitter (per diem) to join our team!

Schedule: varies/as needed

Hours: varies/as needed


Position Summary:

The non-clinical patient sitter is responsible for staying with the patient and interacting with the patient without providing physical care to the patient.


Job relationships:

Reports to the Director of Med/Surg/ICU; collaborates with nursing staff and other RAMC personnel.


Primary customer served:

Infant (31 days -1 year)

Pediatric (1 - 12 years)


Adolescent (13 - 18 years)


Adult (19 - 65 years)


Geriatric ( >66 years)


Education and Training Required
:


High School graduate or equivalent


Experience
:

None necessary

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work in an acute care patient environment with appropriate technological support.

Is able to work independently.

Ability to speak effectively before patients, families, and co-workers.

Complies with HIPAA privacy laws in all forms of communication

Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, and diagram form.


Physical Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stand, walk and sit.
  • Occasionally carries up to 20 pounds
  • Occasionally handle objects, smell, and feel control knobs, switches and levers.
  • Occasionally bend to the floor, squat, kneel, crouch and reach overhead to retrieve equipment or supplies.

Sight:

  • Frequently use peripheral and far vision and occasionally spatial vision.
  • During a normal work shift, is able to use all sight capacities, including spatial, peripheral, and depth perception, near and far vision, colors, and accommodation.

Cognition/Communication:

  • Occasionally use simple writing skills
  • Continuously use skills needed to comprehend the ordinary conversation.
  • Occasional exposure to simpler writing skills.
  • Frequently is exposed to low-volume speech with patients.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Continual exposure to an inside, patient environment with occasional unpleasant odors or noises.
  • Frequently exposed to glare or improper illumination due to the source of lighting within the work environment.

Potential Hazards:

  • OSHA Class I
  • Occasional exposure to infectious blood/body fluids and disease requiring isolation
  • Occasional exposure to infectious blood/body fluids and diseases requiring infection control practice

Psychological, Situational, and Functional Factors:

  • Able to work independently, take initiative, work closely with others, and call for assistance as needed.
