Position Summary:
The Johns Hopkins Children's Mental Health Center (CMHC) specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and psychiatric difficulties. Our patients have the opportunity to participate in individual and/or family-oriented treatment, as well as child/adolescent and parent groups. We offer complete psychiatric and psychosocial evaluations and also assist parents, schools, agencies and other medical specialists in understanding patient needs.
The PSC-III: Schedules patients within the department or between several departments.
Interviews patients and/or family members via telephone, prior to the scheduled appointment according to departmental guidelines.
Consistently greets and interviews patient and family members to obtain or verify complete and accurate registration information.
Accurately describes procedures to new patients according to departmental guidelines.
Accurately and completely enters pre-registration information into a computer system and prepares daily printed schedules for appropriate area according to departmental guidelines.
Obtains and distributes all outstanding registration information fee schedules, and department specific information.
Regularly prints and mails patient directions, maps, medical questionnaire forms and other information according to departmental guidelines.
Verifies insurance benefits.
Complies with billing requirements.
Regularly reviews patient's file for appropriate paperwork, completeness and accurately (medical records, lab results, radiology reports and X-rays) prior to patient's visit according to departmental guidelines.
Fulfill patient's/patients' families/visitors needs for special equipment.
Accurately verifies referral and authorization information and enters into computer system according to departmental guidelines.
Verifies financial information.
Ensures appropriate clinical service.
Regularly inventory's office equipment and supplies and follows department guidelines regarding ordering.
Inspects damaged office equipment and facilitates repairs.
Ensures correct billing.
Assigns diagnostic/procedure and visit fee codes to charge vouchers for computer input. Performs data entry.
Accurately evaluates eligibility for alternative sources of financing such as Medicaid, Patient Care Funds, loans or other payment sources according to established guidelines.
Assists with basic insurance and third party queries and explains payment polices upon request and within established guidelines.
Consistently manages all administrative tasks associated with admission according to departmental guidelines.
Manages registration process.
Ability to proficiently operate PC's and PC applications.
Provide administrative support to the Clinical Manager and Medical Director.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience:
PSC III - one year
