DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Job & Business Academy Manager, the Computer Literacy Instructor is responsible for providing students with direct training and assistance on beginner to advanced technology topics. The Computer Literacy Instructor is also responsible for developing and revising technology workshop curricula and administrative tasks.

The Computer Literacy Instructor delivers technology workshops on Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced Microsoft Office Suite and other job-related technology topics. Schedules technology workshops and support outside presenters with specialized technology workshops by acting as teacher’s assistant. Ensures programming quality based on enrollment and retention data. The Computer Literacy Instructor refers customers to appropriate tutorials, instructions, programs, and staff members to answer technology-related questions and create individualized technology training plans. Follows up with TechLab participants to track progress and make suggestions about further workshops and programs. Provides support to staff with data collection including attendance and completion statistics. This position monitors participants’ progress in the program. Maintains records related to participants’ attendance, performance, and progress. Using JobMap, Google Forms, and all other library and external tools, the computer literacy instructor tracks individual participants through technology workshop series. Prepares reports on technology workshops and programs as instructed by JBA Management staff.

Position Information

  • The rate of pay for this position is $28.00 per hour.
  • Varied schedule with a maximum of 17 hours per week.
  • Extensive Travel is Required.
  • Part-time positions do not offer any medical or health benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma required. Some colleges preferred. Experience instructing technology topics preferred. Knowledge of Queens’ community resources is desirable. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet research is required. Knowledge of other job-related technology such as QuickBooks or Adobe Creative Cloud is desirable. Ability to learn quickly.
