PARKS & EVENTS CREW
SEASONAL POSITION

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Parks & Trails Supervisor, this seasonal position performs skilled and unskilled labor involving light equipment operation and maintenance work of a primarily physically demanding nature.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIALS DUTIES
The below list is intended to be illustrative of the responsibilities of the position and not all encompassing. The Town may change these duties at any time.

Performs all maintenance of parks, trails and open spaces.
Operates light equipment such as lawn mowers and weed-eaters.
Performs general custodial work at public facilities.
Performs trash pickup and site cleanup of public areas to ensure they are attractive and clean.
Assists with special events, may include site setup and teardown.
Assists Public Works employees as directed.
Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of department and Town rules and regulations.
Ability to operate light equipment such as hand and mechanical tools.
Ability to deal courteously and fairly with the public.
Ability to interpret and respond to directions.
Ability to work without continual direct supervision.
Ability to drive and operate the department's assigned vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:
No previous experience required.

Certification:
None required.

General:
Valid State Driver"s License
Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

GUIDELINES
All federal, state, and local laws; safety, departmental and Town policies.

COMPLEXITY
Work requires ability to follow direction.

Work schedule will include weekdays, weekends, holidays and overtime.
Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.

The Town of Winter Park is hiring for our Seasonal Parks, Garden and Events Crew positions! The purpose of these crews is to provide support to the Public Works, Parks, Events and Trails staff involved in creating exceptional experiences for our guests and residents with our garden and beautification programs, parks, trails and special event programs.
These seasonal positions perform skilled and unskilled labor involving light equipment operation, assisting in the maintenance of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees, maintenance work and support services for events, parks and trails. The seasonal positions will begin in May and may continue through early October and will require weekend and overtime schedules. Pay range is $20 - $25 an hour based on experience and qualifications.
Candidates must be at least eighteen years of age, must have a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Driving of vehicles, equipment and ATV is a requirement of the job and Town may disqualify applicants due to MVR under Town policy. Job frequently requires physical effort requiring lifting of objects weighing from 25 to 50 plus pounds. Work generally will take place under outdoor weather conditions and may include adverse weather conditions.
All positions are subject to a screening process including criminal history and proof of a safe driving record. Positions are open until filled. EOE
