About You:

This individual will develop new methods, techniques and improvements for all areas of production, including assembly, vibration welding, subassembly and polymers. They will conduct basic and advanced assembly engineering assignments for the production facility, including but not limited to the usage and deployment of Poka Yoke, smart tools, vision systems and advanced production verb agreement assembly error proofing, solve manufacturing problems, tooling designs, assembly machine designs and improvements. This individual will improve the efficiency of assembly operations by studying generally accepted engineering methods and reporting on findings regarding assembly and subsequent production operations.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Selects and loads the appropriate program for the part type being produced.
  • Selects, installs, and adjusts the proper tooling and attachments for the part type being produced.
  • Inspects the machine and tools for conformance to run specifications and for worn or broken parts.
  • May load large metal coils via hoist into automatic feeding device; place and remove pallets using material handling equipment; occasionally loads or unloads parts manually, depending on the equipment.
  • Begins operations by activating machine using PLC interface; monitors PLC screen and machine operations to detect and respond to any malfunctions.
  • Clears minor faults and involves maintenance support for larger issues.
  • Inspects and measure parts to verify conformance to close tolerance specifications; use various mechanical, handheld, and electronic measuring devices.
  • Corrects malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions by entering commands and adjusting parameters; this may include parameter changes to guides, feeds, dies, and other features of the equipment.
  • Maintains machine through regular cleaning and by making minor repairs and adjustments
  • Assists or trains other department operators as required.
  • Follows all defined safety procedures and uses good judgment to ensure safe working methods.
  • Maintains high quality standards through training, skills, and experience
  • Must be shift flexible

Specifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 or more years experience working with PLC or CNC controlled machinery preferred
  • Previous stamping experience an asset
