Operations Shift Supervisor
Job description
JOB SUMMMARY:
Directs the activities and personnel of the IT Operations during designated shift under the general direction of the Supervisor IT Operations. Responsible for scheduled work for the shift, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all output. Recognizing and documenting production problems and taking actions to correct them. Ensures that appropriate actions are taken based on monitoring tools provided. This includes following production support documentation for reported issues
FUNDAMENTAL JOB TASKS:
- Responsible for ensuring that all Automated jobs complete according to schedules and priorities.
- Responsible for identifying problems and coordinate with production control personnel to resolve problems.
- Reviews and ensures the quality of all output prior to the release of production control including print quality, number of copies, correct forms, normal EOJ, payroll, accounts payable, and report dates.
- Responsible for overall shift turnover including priorities, jobs in process and problem areas.
- Responsible for documenting all Incidents, taking appropriate action to ensure that all hardware/software problems are resolved in a timely manner.
- Observe and recommend changes to increase operational efficiencies.
- Assist the Supervisor IT Operations in recommending, drafting, and implementing operations standards and procedures.
- Responsible for enforcing security practices and procedures.
- Responsible for running Major Incidents and sending out notifications as necessary.
- Ensures that all routine preventive maintenance procedures on datacenter equipment are performed as scheduled according to standards and expert recommendation.
- Keeps Supervisor IT Operations aware of any operational or personnel problems.
- Responsible for proper and timely production ABEND recoveries ensuring that time schedules are met.
- Confidentiality, integrity, accuracy, and problem solving required.
- Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma required.
- Two (2) years college preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Enterprise IT workload job scheduling systems such as Control-M.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in data center supervision.
- Some Knowledge of Mainframe JCL, and Program Abend problem determination/resolution preferred.
- Working knowledge of Distributed systems in Unix, Windows and AS400 required.
- Strong organizational, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communications; interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with all levels of individuals doing business from within and outside the Company.
