Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, you will plan, schedule, coordinate and implement methods and procedures that will ensure the most efficient and economical routing and movement of customer product in an error-free manner.

The position of Operations Manager will oversee all operational activities for the Wichita market and its outlying territory. The Manager, Operations will provide operational leadership and direction to employees and individual contributors to ensure the successful execution of daily tasks and activities which includes the loading and unloading of freight, sorting, and scanning of product, and then of course, the final-mile delivery of product.

From start to finish, the Operations Manager is the quarterback who calls the shots and leads their team to victory day-in and day-out and feels a huge sense of gratification in a job well done!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily receipt, sortation & outbound distribution of product
  • Monitor the on-timeliness of all routes and releases as required by customer(s)
  • Monitor warehouse operations performance
  • Lead transportation & warehouse staff to deliver cost efficiency and high levels of service
  • Liaise with clients, vendors & independent contract drivers
  • Recruit, select, orient, coach & motivate employees
  • Monitors labor; evaluates scheduled and actual labor hours and costs
  • Supports staffing, company drivers, warehouse personnel as to general operating procedures to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and safety
  • Coordinate with HII employees and independent contractors to ensure services are completed accurately and on time
  • Follow company policies, uphold professional standards, and perform all work in a manner respectful of others.
  • Train and evaluate performance of department personnel
  • Assists in hiring, terminations, and corrective action of department personnel
  • The ability to be a self-starter and utilize time management skills to reach client deadlines and demands

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or combination of education and experience
  • Experience in the logistics industry
  • Must have strong computer skills
  • Team attitude/work well with others
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Card certification
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 3 years in Management
