Kate Furbish Elementary School is searching for a one-year primary classroom teachers to lead a kindergarten, grade one and/or grade two classroom.

Required Maine State Department of Education Certifications:

• 020 or 029 Elementary Teacher Certification

Desired candidates will:

• Have successful early elementary instructional experience
• Develop an inclusive classroom environment supportive of academic and social learning
• Create effective rapport with students
• Demonstrate strong primary literacy knowledge
• Effectively plan and implement approved elementary curriculum
• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports
• Identify student needs and effectively collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students
• Maintain a classroom environment conductive to learning, good health, and safety, in line with school wide behavior expectations
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with families
• Use technology effectively
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required
• Work collaboratively with different teams of teachers throughout the school
