Nurse Practitioner
Job description
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner to work in an office-based practice of pain management specializing in Interventional Pain Management.
Duties:
- Evaluate/Assess patients with acute and chronic pain issues. Obtain medical history and perform physical examinations for interventional pain procedures, follow ups and medication refill appointments.
- Make sure patients follow their treatment plans, including compliance with tests and other treatment recommendations.
- Update/Audit patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment.
- Analyze test data and determine the need for follow up appointments and further treatment options such but not limited to durable medical equipment, interventional pain procedures, ect.
- Consults with other physicians as needed and refer to another physician for more complicated medical cases.
- Provide direct treatment and management of patients and appropriate referrals to other healthcare providers (Physical therapy, Chiropractors, Psychologists, ect).
- Order interventional pain procedures, explaining necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedures.
- Order imaging studies, laboratory tests, ect. and review results with patients.
- Perform various intra-articular joint injections (shoulder and knee), trigger point injections, and occipital nerve blocks, and other procedures (will train if necessary).
- Prescribe medications and treatment regimens that are appropriate and relevant to medical condition.
- Use of Athena Health Electronic Medical Record, and the ability to document patient records with completeness and accuracy in a timely manner.
- Perform peer to peer reviews and written or electronic prior authorizations.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team player with other healthcare providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
- Perform in a confident, autonomous role.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current, unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner License
- Texas Prescriptive privileges
- Unrestricted DEA license
- Current BLS certification
- Current Suboxone certification
- Prefer more than one year of experience in pain management.
Benefits: Paid Holidays Great Work Schedule: Tuesdays: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm., Wednesdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, and Fridays 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
- NO CALL and NO WEEKENDS!
Salary: Competitive, based on experience, and negotiable
