Job Summary: This role is responsible for scheduling new patients and responding to incoming phone calls. This position verifies insurance and sets up new patient charts. The role responds to calls with information, assistance, or transfers the call to appropriate person or department if need be; records information regarding calls into a database and /or electronic health record system; assists with other tasks when needed.
The New Patient Scheduling associate may be asked to contact and market to referring physicians in the Kentucky, Indiana, and other areas as well as.
Job Duties:
- Schedules new patient appointments; pre-registers patients; obtains patient demographic and insurance information and updates; cancels/reschedules appointments.
- Provides assistance with scheduling and interface reports and edits.
- Responds to caller general information requests and/or inquiries;.
- Tracks calls appropriately; gathers necessary demographic or other pertinent information and enters into database.
- Maintains physician and clinical service information
- Facilitates physician consultation requests; assists with patient referrals; transfers callers to clinical departments, as needed
- Markets to area referring physician's offices
- All other duties assigned including duties performed for affiliates, assigns, lessees, contractors or other third parties
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of modern office equipment and procedures. Previous EHR experience preferred but not necessary
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal/human relations skills

- Ability to type and operate word processing programs
- Ability to prioritize duties, delegate responsibilities, and evaluate the work of others

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience equivalent to:
- 1+ years experience with Computer software, required
- Medical office experience, preferred
- Must be punctual and have great attendance
- Manage stress well
- Very consistent, pleasant, cheerful personality that patients and co-workers will warm up to immediately

- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to exert up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on a computer.
- Must have clarity of vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to speak and hear clearly.
- Must be able to communicate with patients verbally and write legibly
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
