PBLWorks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (dba Buck Institute for Education) headquartered in Novato, California, is the industry leader in providing professional development, products, and resources related to Project Based Learning (PBL). PBLWorks creates, collects, and shares high-quality PBL tools and resources with K-12 teachers and leaders across the country. Position Description
The National Faculty (NF) are a nationally distinguished team of educators who specialize in project based learning. The NF are comprised of seasoned teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, authors, and educational consultants who conduct professional development activities on behalf of PBLWorks. Each National Faculty member has his or her own areas of expertise as well as a comprehensive understanding of the PBLWorks Gold Standard Project Based Learning (PBL) framework. The NF operationalize this framework to deliver professional development services to teachers and leaders across the country to support them in the high quality design, adaptation, and implementation of projects. As racial equity advocates, the NF also provide skilled coaching and consulting to teachers and leaders to ensure that their projects and subsequent in-classroom facilitation of projects are culturally responsive and include all students, especially Black and Brown students.
This part time position provides an opportunity to have influence on teachers and students through the delivery of engaging face-to-face and online professional development, coaching, and sustained support. As a part of PBLWorks’ larger learning community, the NF are members of the PBLWorks’ Partnership Advancement Team. In this role, NF work closely with other National Faculty members, and they report to the Senior Manager of the National Faculty.
Responsibilities
The National Faculty will:
Speak with accuracy, depth, and conviction about the key aspects of PBLWorks’ framework and resources for Project Based Learning
Conduct onsite and online workshops, trainings, and consultation services that meet PBLWorks’ high standard for professional development
Assist partners in follow-up support visits in the development and implementation of Project Based Learning units as defined by PBLWorks’ Gold Standard PBL Design Elements and Teaching Practices
Build capacity in racial equity to facilitate toward equitable access and outcomes for students
Attend PBLWorks’ scheduled online, in person trainings, and Summits to keep current on PBLWorks’ products and services, equity imperatives, and the strategic direction of the organization
Actively contribute to the PBLWorks’ professional learning community by developing and sharing best professional development practices
Provide mentoring support and training to site or district-based instructional coaches and new National Faculty on request
Interact collaboratively with the National Faculty Manager and colleagues to ensure that client needs are met
Maintain accurate calendar, time, expense and activity records
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Abilities
The part time National Faculty will be thoroughly committed to PBLWorks’strategy, mission, and vision. All candidates should have an equity mindset, demonstrable facilitation, coaching, and consulting experience, and a deep knowledge of PBL.

Benefits
The National Faculty role is a part-time hourly, variable-hour position with sick time benefits. Anticipated hours will vary over the course of the year and will be higher in volume in the summer months. PBLWorks offers competitive pay and professional development opportunities. The hourly rates are based on the type of work performed. The National Faculty role pays 85/hr for service-related work and 35/hr for travel/admin work.
