Job Summary
Bowdoin’s Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum is dedicated to all things Arctic. It is named after Arctic explorers and Bowdoin graduates Robert E. Peary (Class of 1877) and Donald B. MacMillan (Class of 1898). It is home to a diverse collection of over 41,000 objects, photographs, art works, and motion picture films. The Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum will open in the new John and Lile Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies in late Spring 2023.
The Arctic Museum is looking for a Receptionist to join their team. The Receptionist will be responsible for greeting weekend museum visitors, answering questions, transacting museum shop sales, and providing general telephone reception.
- Hourly rate for this position is $17.00/ per hour
Education/Skills Requirements
Required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a public space with frequent interruptions
- Initiative, dependability, and interest in the Artic Museum
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Required:
- 1+ year of experience in general reception, office work, or retail sales work.
Standard Work Days and Hours
- The regular hours will be Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sunday 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
- There may be opportunities to work weekday hours to serve as a back-up for the regular Receptionist.
- This position is part-time, non-benefits eligible
