Position Description

Flagstaff Academy seeks a part time Spanish Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. The candidate is responsible for teaching students in 6th-8th grades a high school level curriculum. The position requires close collaboration with the Middle School team to ensure that there is a meaningful scope and sequence for the middle school Core Knowledge curriculum.

Qualifications sought

We seek a talented educator who can inspire students and teachers while being inspired by our mission -- “where science and technology take flight.” The successful candidate is expected to deliver dynamic educational experiences with high educational expectations and accountability. Our primary focus is on teaching fluency within the language and a love for world cultures.

Specifically, we seek an educator with:

  • subject expertise in the Spanish language,
  • high degree of competence with Google Apps for Education,
  • good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills,
  • the ability to work collaboratively,
  • a willingness to work closely with families,
  • ability to form positive relationships with adolescents,
  • three years of successful experience as a teacher,
  • credentials as a highly qualified teacher in Colorado,
  • effective instructional delivery techniques, like TPRS.

The candidate’s pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction with a particular focus on the teaching of world languages through investigation and inquiry.

Job Skills and Qualifications:

Current Colorado teaching license

Ability to interpret and communicate student data

Strong systems orientation and commitment to follow-through

Experience working with secondary students

About Flagstaff Academy Charter School

Located in Longmont, Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades kindergarten through eighth. Our school also offers a tuition-based full- and part-time preschool program for three and four year olds.

Since its founding in 2005, Flagstaff Academy has grown into Longmont’s premier science and technology school. Our mission is to develop students who are equipped to be well-rounded, ethical leaders in the world community with a foundation based on science and technology.
