Job Summary and Qualifications
As Manager of the Laboratory at our facility you will have the opportunity to lead a highly functioning team that supports many different departments throughout the hospital and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
- You will supervise the performance of laboratory personnel within all sections of the clinical and anatomical laboratory.
- You will be responsible for the overall daily operation of the laboratory.
- You will direct, establish, and plan the overall policies and goals for laboratory services and ancillary services.
- You will oversee staff scheduling and payroll/HR records.
- You will educate and train employees, ensuring that all staff are competent, compliant, and have developmental opportunities.
- You will work closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained.
- You will write and update procedures and manuals as needed and review annually to ensure that employees have current information needed to perform tests and procedures.
- You will review all Quality Control records for areas, ensuring appropriate documentation, and follow up with any necessary corrective action documentation required.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as MT (ASCP), MLS, or CLS.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related sciences including a practical training program.
- 5+ years of experience in a medical laboratory.
- Recent managerial experience in the clinical laboratory of an acute care hospital.
- Prefer experience with regulatory and accreditation of laboratory operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and written.
- Strong problem solving, management, prioritization, and leadership skills necessary.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
