POSITION TITLE: Member Services Supervisor (Full-Time)
DIVISION: Recreation & Facilities (R&F)
REPORTS TO: Recreation Services Manager: Member Services
FLSA STATUS: Full-Time; Non-Exempt; $19.00 - $21.00
Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this full-time position is to deliver exemplary customer service to guests of the Monon Community Center and Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation. This position serves as the supervisor on duty and oversees the daily operations of the MCC while directly supervising Member Services Associates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Monitors general operations of the MCC including group fitness classes, recreation programs, room rentals and desk operations during operating hours as the full-time supervisor on duty.
- Responsible for opening and closing the MCC and The Waterpark.
- Co-supervises year round and seasonal part time staff.
- Responsible for ensuring proper adherence to cash handling policies and procedures.
- Provides initial and on-going training, guidance, and interpretation regarding the application of procedures and standards to Member Services Associates.
- Assists in managing part time staff schedules and makes changes as necessary.
- Assists Member Services Associates with program registrations for recreation programs, sale of memberships, and sale of day passes.
- Identifies technical problems related to registration software, trouble shoots as necessary and notifies management when appropriate.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and all members of the general public.
- Communicates regularly with management to understand MCC programs and operations in order to inform and train staff and answer guest inquiries.
- Provides timely and accurate information to CCPR employees, facility users, program participants and the general public.
- Responds to public inquiries, suggestions and complaints; facilitates resolutions in a professional manner; informs management as necessary.
- Completes and submits appropriate paperwork, journals and reports in the required timeframe.
- Enforces CCPR rules and regulations with staff and CCPR guests.
- Ensures compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; recommend or initiate actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
- Reliable attendance and timeliness to scheduled shifts while showing flexibility to trade/help with colleague’s shifts on occasion.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Ability to work while standing or walking for long periods of time.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize time and processes.
- Ability to assess varying situations, and act accordingly.
- Ability to positively adhere to and enforce Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation policy and procedures; implement emergency plans.
- Ability to positively promote the image of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, guests and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to give and understand oral and written instructions.
- Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and recreation software applications as necessary to perform job functions.
- Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as humidity, rain, and temperature extremes.
Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- Minimum 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED.
- One to three years customer service experience; previous facility, recreation or customer service supervisory experience preferred.
- Minimum 2 years previous cash handling experience.
- Must be First Aid and CPR certified within 60 days of employment.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
- Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state, and local searches, throughout employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
