GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Medical Scheduler job is remote, however, within the Meadville area and surrounding areas. No out-of-state applicants due to traveling to meetings occasionally and training.
The Scheduler will provide swift and quality communication with patients and callers by scheduling/rescheduling existing and new patient appointments. Scheduling patients according to guidelines, filling provider schedules as needed. This position is considered a crucial link between the patient and the care delivered by the clinical staff and physicians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Contact patients to schedule appointments. Provide quality customer service and a positive attitude. Display good patient, physician and employee relations, including teamwork.
2. The Scheduler needs to enter patient's information efficiently and accurately, including insurance information.
3. Schedules patient flow to the physician offices to serve an adequate number of patients each day.
4. Advises clinical staff of any additions to the schedule as well as any cancellations to the schedule.
5. Re-schedule patients if changes occur in physician schedules.
6. When scheduling appointments, carefully and completely gather information needed for new patient appointments; information includes, but is not limited to, all demographics, medical records information, insurance information and PCP information.
7. Informs patient of any existing balance noted and request patients to be prepared for any co-pays or balance due at time of visit.
8. Demonstrates problem-solving and conflict resolution skills when handling patient complaints or concerns; refers the patient to appropriate designated staff and/or manager.
9. Retrieve messages patient messages throughout the day, processing promptly and accordingly.
10. Troubleshoot scheduling problem calls
11. Attends any scheduled department/office staff meetings as necessary.

EXPERIENCE:
Prior clinical experience and medical background preferred. LPN Experience a plus, but not necessary. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Clinical background preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers. Medical Office experience is required. Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Remote location, work from home. Occasionally attends meetings and training at the different physician offices, so some travel will be required. Mileage reimbursement will be provided if traveling outside of the Meadville area.
