Alaris Health at Belgrove, a 120 bed-skilled nursing Center in Kearny, New Jersey, seeks a medical records coordinator to maintain meticulous resident records containing all items required by state and federal regulations. Additional responsibilities include:
- maintaining accurate order of open charts and preparing closed charts
- ensuring that all admission orders as well as Medicare certifications and re-certifications are signed by the attending physician in a timely manner
- communicating with the pharmacy in reference to additions/deletions of resident MARs and/or POSs
- initiating yearly flu/pneumonia vaccine program and maintaining accurate record keeping
- writing, typing and distributes advance notices for admissions, re-admissions, room changes, status changes, discharges, etc. to the appropriate Center staff
- obtaining all appropriate departmental and physicians’ signatures on discharge charts within 30 days of discharge
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school degree or GED
- Experience coding and abstracting
- Basic courses or experience pertaining to the position is preferred
- Possess knowledge of medical and anatomical terminology, coding and filing systems and proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Detail-oriented and high standard for accuracy
