Lockheed Martin Space in Englewood, CO is seeking a full-time Early Career Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will support the engineering team by performing preliminary and detailed level component and system design, development, and integration for flight as well as ground systems. Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the initiation system, separation, and mechanism ordnance and propulsion components, assemblies and systems. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities.
The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge or prior experience with analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal, knowledge of mechanical CAD modeling and drafting (Creo or similar), and understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principles. Must be a US Citizen;
this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s best-in-class lines of business that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems, and small rocket motors. We are responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost.

- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, project management, or related technical discipline.
- Knowledge of or prior experience with analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of mechanical CAD modeling and drafting (Creo or similar)
- Understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principals
- Familiarity with Ordnance and Propulsion systems
- Knowledge of Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with CREO CAD software
- Familiarity with Project Engineering, Program Management, and/or Planning
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
