Position Purpose: Support of the Pre-Construction team by compiling & quantifying bid data,
streamlining estimating processes, and coordination with bidders. Working with various internal
stakeholders to facilitate estimating and bid submissions, while also supporting the front-end of project
planning after award by coordinating key suppliers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadec is a general contractor for the manufacturing industry providing turnkey conveyance systems to
Automotive and non-automotive customers. Our success is dependent on the integrity, passion,
initiative, and competency of our employees. Leadec entrusts its Application Engineers to facilitate bid
coordination, identify critical cost drivers for projects, and work with key suppliers to ensure the quality
and timeliness of bid submissions. Additionally, after project award, the Applications Engineer will work
closely with the project team during the pre-construction phase to ensure the buy-out phase of the
project for key suppliers is achieved. The Application Engineer will be responsible for coordination of
existing and identification of new suppliers within Leadec's complex global supply chain. Excellent
communication and organization skills to accompany a diligent work ethic are required to achieve
success in this role.
Moderate travel within the US and possibly internationally will be required.
The Application Engineer will support Pre-Construction activities. Primary responsibilities and
capabilities for an Applications Engineer include, but are not limited to, support of the following project
activities:
- Assisting in the building of estimates
- Creating customer timelines and technical writeups for proposals
- Bid document takeoffs
- Sketching of general conveyor layouts
- Organizing vendor bids and communicating updates with bidders
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, contractors, and internal departments
- Support buy-out phase with operations team after project award
- Identification and vetting of new vendors
- Support in optimizing estimating procedures
Below is a detailed list of individual responsibilities expected of Leadec Application Engineers:
1) Work with Sales Team to organize ongoing bids
2) Initial setup of proposal and estimating templates to receive input from key stakeholders
3) Work with Project Manager's after project award to ensure proper handover of as-sold documents
for successful project kickoff.
4) Participate in initial project meetings (internal/external) on critical projects and support the buy-out
phase for key suppliers, including support for writing major subcontracts.
5) Participate in developing, executing, and streamlining the following operational components of a
project:
- Estimating/Proposals
- Support Prospective Bid Phase
- Key Supplier Onboarding and Contracting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum 0-5 years of experience
- Willingness to gain knowledge in conveyance:
o Conveyor layout design, unique parts design, motor sizing/applications
- Willingness to gain knowledge in major equipment design & installations such as:
o Automotive conveyance equipment, steel mezzanines, etc.
- Willingness to gain knowledge in controls/electrical installation services:
o Installation of control wiring, electrical power feeds, cable/conduit installation
- Sound proficiency with Excel is mandatory. A Competency with use of other computer
programs such as MS Project, AutoCAD, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- BS in Engineering, construction management or equivalent experience considered in
lieu of degree
Position Requirements:
- Mix of office environment and on location at various job sites or suppliers
- Travel to jobsites/supplier sites as required
- Weekend work occasionally
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
