Position Description:
We are searching for a Capital Markets Operations Assistant Manager. This role assists in supervising Capital Markets Operations staff in the day-to-day activities of maintaining participation and syndication loan accounting. Performs in a lead role on participation a nd syndication loan projects. Responsible for the processing and accuracy of all types of activity related to participation loans. Prepares and maintains loan files; processes participation loan payments, disbursements, and other related activity; and remits funds as necessary to participating banks. Performs financial analyses as required to support complex credit agreement reporting, accounting reconciliations, and reporting. Initiates contact and responds to Tenth District Association needs in the area of participation and syndication of loans.
This position requires independent judgment in the application of generally accepted accounting principles as it relates to loan accounting activity. Deals with assignments that are broad, complex, and sensitive in nature. Has considerable latitude for decision-making as it relates to directing the day-to-day activities of less-senior staff.

Day-to Day-Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the activities of Cap ital Markets Operations staff in the day-to-day activities of maintaining participation and syndication loan accounting.
  • Performs in a lead role on participation and syndication loan projects. Assists the Capital Markets Operations Manager and Director in guiding CMO team to the completion of project goals.
  • Assists the Capital Markets Operations Manager in the areas of developing new and/or improved procedures, efficiencies, and automated processes.
  • Set up and maintain loan records in various loan accounting systems; processes payments on loans and initiates remittance of funds; and processes loan corrections as required.
  • Verifies and maintains interest rate changes on loans, and inputs manual re-pricing as required.
  • Monitors selected general ledger accounts in relation to loans.
  • Assists other bank staff with the development of financial systems and processes to ensure compliance with policy, procedures, and regulatory rules.
  • G athers, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes recommendations for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Assists district associations with issues or activities related to loan participations or syndications.
  • Structures complex loan agreements into loan accounting systems.
  • Processes transactional activity related to syndicated and participation loans and ensures their accuracy.
  • Works with credit, legal, finance, and other departments to ensure the accuracy of complex loan agreements in the loan accounting system. Identifies and solves issues related to complex credit agreements.
  • Mentors staff to develop their analytical and problem-solving skills in the area of complex loan accounting.
  • Trains staff and associations as needed on both system and procedural needs.
  • Develops controls to ensure the department in compliance with bank and regulatory processes.

What You Bring to the Team:
It’s an important rol e that covers many skills. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience and five (5) or more years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, loan accounting operations, and/or capital markets loan operations. Experience should include a minimum of three (3) years in syndicated or participation loans or a minimum of two (2) years in loan accounting.
Specialized knowledge of loan operations systems and reporting tools. Specialized knowledge of participation and syndication loan accounting rules and related regulations. Skill in oral and written communications. Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office suite. Skill in resolving complex problems and issues. Ability to work with complex accounting systems and to learn query and reporting tools. Ability to understand loan accounting reconciliation. Ability to accomplish detailed tasks within limited time constraints. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to apply creativity, ingenuity, and leadership in dealing with challenging assignments. Ability to work independently to complete assigned projects.
