Responsibilities:
This position will manage the NYBC enterprise patent portfolio inclusive of therapeutic research in infectious disease, benign hematology, and cell therapy. This role will be integral for the organization’s growth strategy to increase licensing revenue. The appropriate person will have autonomy to develop and standardize tech transfer management practices, while working in conjunction with Business Development, OSP and NYBC Office of General Counsel to achieve growth metrics.

Responsibilities include:
  • Work with LKFRI researchers to evaluate inventions for Intellectual Property protection and commercial potential.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate new disclosures for technical development, patentability, commercial potential, and practical utilities.
  • Negotiate intellectual property and licensing terms in accordance with NYBCe IP Policy for a variety of agreements including Non-disclosure Agreements, Materials Transfer Agreements, in- and out- Licenses, Patent Management and Royalty Sharing Agreements, Evaluation / Testing Agreements, and others as the need arises.
  • Contact potential licensees and commercial partners to explore utilities and value of new innovations to entice commercial collaboration.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and recommend IP prosecution strategies for the protection of inventions.
  • Manage relationships with related researchers and inventors.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with inventors and commercial partners.
Qualifications:
PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, or closely related field.
5 years of related technology transfer experience, with at least three (3) years’ experience in licensing, contracts, patent laws, university policies.
OR
8+ years of working experience providing effective technology transfer in support of project activities and objectives for IP protection, patenting, licensing, and business development for commercialization and marketing of finished medical products.

Knowledge of clinical trials process and FDA drug approval process along with a strong scientific background, interpersonal, and management skills preferred.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $125,000.00/year to $135,000.00/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
