CUSTODIAN

Department: Symons Recreation Complex

Reports to: Director

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this position is to perform general maintenance and cleaning duties at Symons

Recreation Complex for Richland County and the City of Richland Center

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Performs cleaning tasks including: empty trash, dust mop floor surfaces, disinfect toilets, sinks water drinking fountains and urinals with chemicals, clean and disinfect locker- room and showers, vacuum rugs in lobby, hose off pool decks, wash mirrors and windows and wet mop entrance and hallways and wax if necessary.
• Monitor ph (acidity, alkalinity) and chlorine balance of swimming pool/hot tub water samples.
• Monitors swimming pool/ hot tub water temperature.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

High School diploma or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical and Mental Abilities required to perform Essential Job Functions

Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication

• Ability to understand cleaning chemical labels, pool chemical labels and maintenance equipment instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate with the Director, customers, SRC Staff.

Mathematical Ability

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Judgment and Situational Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense to perform highly repetitive tasks.
• Ability to use independent judgment in a regular routine.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform simple to precise movements to hands, feet, torso, arms and legs to perform a variety of maintenance tasks.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, push. pull and lift.
• Ability to recognize specific colors, sounds, odors, forms, etc.

Environmental Adaptability

• Ability to perform in occasionally hazards, from toxic chemicals.

• 8 hour shift
• Weekends only
