Job Description:

• Responsible for leading the maintenance department as the Plant Progressive Maintenance Pillar leader
• Develops and leads the execution of the plant's 2–3-year maintenance strategy
• Manages preventative and predictive repair programs driven by manufacturer’s specifications.
• Leads the maintenance team utilizing regular coaching and feedback; proactively supports team performance
• Establishes pre-set inspection, service checklists, work orders, and repair schedules
• Leverages the use of KPIs to monitor the health of the maintenance department and its systems
• Coaches and supports the site's continuous improvement (CI) initiatives through total performance management (TPM), single minute exchange of dies (SMED), the plan does check act (PDCA) and performance improvement teams (PITs), and Breakdown Elimination (6W2H). Manages the implementation of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to plan and execute the site progressive maintenance (PM) pillar as the site PM lead.
• Providing coaching, training, feedback, and mentorship to maintenance technicians, coordinators, and admin staff.
• Utilize defined best practices to drive and support operational excellence in areas such as predictive/preventive maintenance, mentoring, and technical support for the maintenance of processes/equipment
• Help develop plant maintenance and reliability plans, including expected deliverables and KPIs
• Maintains accurate, up-to-date service records and technical logs for each major piece of equipment
• Creates and maintains contracts for all equipment and machine repairs not performed in house
• Where required, provides floor-level support to detect, evaluate, and/or resolve any malfunction or issues with production equipment.
• Creates scope, manages, and directs onsite contractors and field service technicians
• Proactively improves technical processes and standards as appropriate
• Develops and implements technical training programs geared to enhance Service Technician competencies
• Key member of and active involvement in the Plant Steering Team
• All other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Post-secondary degree in an engineering discipline or related field.
• Five years in a Technical Management or Supervisor role within the food manufacturing industry
• Strong knowledge of electronics, controls, mechanical and electrical components found in food manufacturing machinery as well as proper safety standards for food production equipment
• Demonstrated technical and hands-on experience with installation and repairs of manufacturing and packaging equipment
• Knowledge of lean and six sigma techniques and tools is an asset
• Experience in the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to successfully run a maintenance department, knowledge in SAP Plant Maintenance a plus
• Demonstrated problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills
• Experience using Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet)
