This position is from March 1 - October 31 Monday - Friday, 6:30a.m. - 3 p.m. and November 1 - February 28, Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The hourly wage is according to the established salary schedule for this position.

Purpose Statement
The position of the “Lawn Crew“ is done for the purpose/s of is done for the purpose of maintaining district
lawns within standards; ensuring proper and safe operation of equipment; maintaining equipment in safe
operating condition; and following established mowing schedule.
Essential Functions:
 Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work
activities
 Drives vehicles (with trailers and with manual transmissions) for the purpose of transporting mowing equipment
in a safe manner
 Follows mowing schedule for district site rotation for the purpose of efficiently utilizing staff hours and travel
time
 Fuels assigned vehicles and power equipment for the purpose of maintaining vehicles and equipment in safe
operating condition
 Maintains equipment (e.g., power equipment, vehicles, trailers, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper and safe
operation of equipment
 Maintains general landscaping and grounds (e.g., weeding, pruning, fertilizing, site clean-up, etc.) for the purpose
of ensuring an attractive and safe environment
 Operates power equipment and yard/garden tools (e.g., mowers, edgers, weed eaters, aerators, thatchers,
chainsaws, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining District grounds within beautification standards
 Removes grass and debris for the purpose of transporting to designated waste site
 Reports equipment malfunctions to Grounds Foreman for the purpose of ensuring equipment is maintained in
safe operating condition
Other Job Functions:
 Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work
activities.
Essential Job Requirements – Qualifications:
Experience Required: One year or more prior job-related experience or equivalent vocational training
required. Candidate must attain a minimum of 70% on the scored interview questions, practical essay, and
resume review to be deemed to have met the minimum qualifications for the position.
Skill, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
 Skills to operate power equipment (i.e. riding mower, tractor, etc.) and various hand, yard, and garden tools
 Ability to operate all equipment in a safe manner
 Knowledge of yard maintenance tools and equipment; safety practices; District and departmental policies and
procedures
 Ability to sit and walk for prolonged periods
 Skills and knowledge to drive a truck and trailer as well as other types of vehicles
 Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions
 Ability to work with minimum supervision
 Skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
 Ability to meet scheduling deadlines
 Ability to work at roof height with fall protection as required for the maintenance laborer option
 Ability to adjust to flexible schedule often with short notice
 Knowledge and ability to speak and understand the English language
 Ability to perform the following: lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, stooping/crouching,
reaching/handling/grasping/twisting, hearing, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, visual
accommodation, and field of vision
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid Washington State Driver’s License
and evidence of insurability. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
