Your role


Position Summary

Assists Flavorist’s activities in a timely manner as required to meet flavor development deadlines. Has the ability to work on projects with medium complexity for customer requests with assistance from Flavorist. Responsible for maintaining and cleaning laboratory and keeping stock of raw materials, laboratory supplies and solvents. Has a level of understanding of the customer base which the Flavorist supports and a cognitive sense of project activity and priorities. Has understanding of Flavor Regulatory and Legal compliance to support flavor projects activities and customer request. Assists application team by compounding flavor samples when required. Strong team player to interact, communicate and take direction from Teterboro flavorists, as well as interaction with other departments such as regulatory, QC, production, sensory, shipping and marketing. When necessary assist in the function of portfolio management for the beverage category.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs and assists all the flavor R&D activities, compounding, sample preparation, and SAP entry with minimal supervision as assigned to meet project deadlines.
  • Replenishes stock of raw materials, laboratory supplies and solvents by interfacing with persons responsible for ordering these materials.
  • Performs general housekeeping and dishwashing duties consistent with maintaining a safe and clean laboratory.
  • Maintains ingredient and supplier information files, coordinates documentation requests and interacts with suppliers, customers, both internal and external to coordinate project activity in support of the Flavorist.
  • Maintains retain retrieval system in coordination with QC to support project submissions.


About you


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a science or math related field (Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, etc.)
  • Must have had at least a laboratory internship in the food and flavor industry. At least 1 year of work experience within a lab in the food/flavor industry is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to use laboratory equipment.
  • Must have familiarity with flavor chemicals, balances and the ability to assemble or compound chemicals into finished flavors.
  • Must possess good math skills and computer knowledge of SAP in order to record formulations.
  • Must have the needed chemistry skills to make dilutions and distinguish chemical groups from each other.
  • Occupational Qualifier: MUST be willing and able to evaluate flavors by tasting and smelling all types of flavors in various food and beverage bases and not have dietary restrictions (including meat, dairy, etc.).
