Job Summary and Qualifications

Phlebotomists will draw blood samples to be analyzed by laboratory personnel and interpreted by Pathologists for patient diagnoses. When collecting blood samples, they will ensure proper patient identification and labeling of samples. The Phlebotomist may perform special tests such as clotting time, bleeding time, and/or glucose tolerance tests and report results. For all tests/samples collected, they will maintain records of tests performed and samples taken, as well as maintain needed equipment and supplies.

EXPERIENCE:

Required - Phlebotomy Experience or Training, Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred - At least 1-year experience in phlebotomy. Specimen handling experience a plus.

EDUCATION:

Required - Successful completion of a phlebotomy training program from an approved school.

CERTIFICATION:

Preferred: ASCP/ASPT certified phlebotomist or equivalent.
